We knew Celebrate Brooklyn! could throw an awesome party, but Ezra’s 100th birthday fest, on June 11, was even better than expected. The popular Keats Family Concert in Prospect Park blew everyone away as Dan Zanes & Friends, TADA! Youth Theater, a bunch of kids’ activities and other delights filled the afternoon with fun.
TADA!, the premier children’s theater in New York, is staging a revival of its hit musical “Adventures from Ezra Jack Keats” in honor of Ezra’s 100th. Birthday bonus: The youthful company will perform at the Ezra Jack Keats Family Concert on Saturday, June 11.
Hang out with us this summer, at Ezra’s 100th birthday events around town and across the country. In Brooklyn, join us for storytelling every Saturday at 2 p.m. in July and August, at the Peter and Willie statue in Prospect Park. Wherever you are, we hope you’ll stop by!
Ezra’s Hidden Treasures
Pssst, Doggie- and Skates! are wild, nearly wordless fantasies unlike Ezra’s other tales—but if you love his other books, you’ll love these, too!
Clementina’s Cactus is a Keats story unlike any other – it’s told entirely without words! Gorgeous watercolors set the scene, and you supply the text. And enjoy our read-aloud, words and all! Plus: Desert flora, cute cacti, rain makers, and more
Congratulations to the new EJK Book Award winners! Taking top honors are Don Tate as New Writer for Poet: The Remarkable Story of George Moses Horton, and Phoebe Wahl as New Illustrator for Sonya’s Chickens. Read more about them and the new Honor Books!
