Fine Art

Throughout his life Ezra remained a fine artist as well as an illustrator. Early in his career his paintings and sketches were purchased and displayed by his friends. Many of his later works are now in private collections. Because Ezra earned his greatest renown through his children’s book illustrations, the public knows relatively little about his legacy of oil paintings, watercolors, pen-and-ink drawings and pencil sketches. Below, a sample of Ezra’s work from roughly 1949 through the 1960s. For limited-edition prints of select illustrations, see R. Michelson Galleries.
