The Contemporary Jewish Museum first brought the acclaimed exhibition “The Snowy Day and the Art of Ezra Jack Keats” to San Francisco in late 2012, and soon established the West Coast edition of the EJK Bookmaking Competition in partnership with the San Francisco Public Library and the Unified School District. This year the state of California took notice, and honored the CJM with the State Superintendent’s Award for Excellence in Museum Education—for the EJK Bookmaking program!

The day was all about kids, families and books. The EJK Bookmaking Awards ceremony, hosted by the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco on March 15, was the high point of a fun-filled afternoon. The children were excited about their awards and posed with parents and friends, their books proudly displayed. And it didn’t end there: All the books can be viewed at the main San Francisco Public Library (100 Larkin Street, in the Children’s Center on the second floor), through May 8.
