This theatrical production, first staged in honor of Ezra’s 100th birthday, has taken on a life of its own.

“The Snowy Day and Other Stories by Ezra Jack Keats” premiered in February of 2016, Ezra’s centennial year, at the Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis. Adapted by Jerome Hairston from The Snowy Day, Whistle for Willie, Goggles! and A Letter to Amy, the CTC production included striking shadow puppetry that evoked Keats-style illustrations. The Minneapolis Star-Telegram called the production “a quiet joy.”

Over the past two years, the play was staged by some 10 theatres from Seattle to Slidell, Louisiana (see full list below), with more productions scheduled for 2018. Coming up this year:

St. Luke’s Theater, New York City – January 13–March 31
Nashville Children’s Theatre – January 18–February 11
Childsplay, Tempe, Arizona – January 21–March 11
