UNICEF - invited to design their first set of greeting cards. Keats created five multicultural cards (theme: Peace); over one million of his cards were sold that year.

LOCATIONS DEDICATED TO KEATS


Cuyahoga Library, Ohio dedicated an Ezra Jack Keats Reading Room, 1971

SKATES roller rink opened in Tokyo, Japan in honor of Keats’ book of the same name, 1974

The Ezra Jack Keats International School name was awarded to P.S. 253 in Brooklyn, New York, in 1988. This school serves a population of great diversity; including children who have come to the United States from over 40 different countries.

Arlington Branch Brass Plaque dedicated to Keats in the corner where he stood and read as a child.

Ezra Jack Keats stepping stone dedicated in Brooklyn Celebrity Walk, located in the Brooklyn, Botanic Gardens.
